Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer

Kendall Helm, PhD is LADWP’s new Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer whose expertise is in driving investment into profitable sustainability activities that enhance business and markets. As Chief Strategy and Sustainability Officer at LADWP, Kendall will lead our strategic efforts to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and our water sustainability and resiliency goals by 2035. She will also be responsible for overseeing the staff, operations and activities of the Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs Division and the Sustainability and Environmental groups, including the corporate sustainability report; cap and trade; environmental group; GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emission reporting; Federal grants team; Low Carbon Fuel Standard credit proceeds; and corporate strategy, including electrification and water sustainability strategies, hydrogen, LA 100, equity strategies, and Electrical Vehicle, Voluntary Protection Programs, and Vehicle to Grid programs.

Joining us from San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), Kendall was most recently Vice President of People and Culture, where she was responsible for building a high-performance culture needed to deliver clean, safe, and reliable energy to 3.7 million customers. Prior to that, she also held positions at SDG&E as Director of Origination and Portfolio Design, VP of Energy Supply and VP of Customer Operations. An economist by training, Kendall has also worked for The World Bank, the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and Sempra.

Kendall has a BA in Economics and International Studies from the University of Denver and a PhD in Economics from American University. A native of Colorado, she loves dogs, hiking, scuba diving and golfing.
