1. I have existing solar, can I still apply for SGIP to get incentives to install a battery?  

    Yes, you may qualify for the program when pairing your existing solar system with the new battery set to self-consumption mode (systems using a battery to store solar generation and discharging the stored power only to meet on-site load). For additional information to determine if you qualify, please refer to the SGIP Handbook Section 3: Program Participant Eligibility, Section 4: Incentives for information on Incentives for Existing SGIP Systems (Section 4.5.4), and Incentives for System Replacements (Section 4.5.5).

     

  2. Does LADWP participate in all aspects of SGIP?  

    No, LADWP is only participating in AB 209 funded Residential Solar and Storage Equity.

     

  3. What documents are required for application submittal?   

    The documents required to submit an application are listed in Table 8.1, titled "Reservation Request Requirements," located in Section 8: Documentation Requirements of the SGIP Handbook.

     

  4. How do you know if your project qualifies for SGIP? 

    Please refer to SGIP Handbook Section 3.2.1: Residential Solar and Storage Equity Eligibility to verify that your project qualifies.

     

  5. How can you submit an application? 

    The applications can be submitted on the SGIP application database website: www.selfgenca.com. A SGIP approved developer will typically draft and submit an application on behalf of their customers. The program will require you/the developer to create an application with a log in via www.selfgenca.com.

     

  6. Where can I find more information about the SGIP program?

  7. Is there any proof required for income eligibility? 

    At this moment, we will need an IRS 1040 form or a comparable document (e.g. CA Form 540) to verify eligibility.

     

  8. Does the LADWP’s SGIP program include commercial customers?  

    No, the LADWP’s SGIP program is meant for low income multifamily/single-family housing. For full verification of which projects qualify, please refer to SGIP handbook Section 3.2 under Residential Solar and Storage Equity budget.

     

  9. Where can I find the income requirements for the SGIP-RSSE program?  

    The requirements can be found in the SGIP Handbook in Section 3.2.1: Residential Solar and Storage Equity Eligibility.

     

  10. We are exploring financing options for the SGIP program, would a prepaid Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) be acceptable for SGIP eligibility and incentive processing?   

    LADWP does not allow the resale of energy within their service territory, however an equipment lease may be used.

     

  11. Does a project need to have both solar and storage to qualify for the rebate, or can you apply with a solar only system?   

    LADWP has funds for Residential Solar and Storage Equity (RSSE) budget. As such, the system must have both solar and energy storage to qualify or must have an existing solar system so the proposed energy storage system may be placed in self-consumption mode (may not discharge to LADWP’s electric grid, only the customer’s load).

     

  12. Can I apply for the rebate with a system that is already installed?  

    Incentives may be available to installed systems if they qualify with the RSSE budget and system requirements, have the LADWP approved Reservation Request Form (RRF), and have been installed within a year of the approved RRF. There is no guarantee for the incentives as the funds may be oversubscribed.

     

  13. Where can I find my Green Button Data on the LADWP website?

    LADWP does not currently support Green Button Data. Instead, the SGIP program allows customers to provide developers with their monthly kWh energy usage found on your electrical bill.

     

  14. Does LADWP offer an SGIP-approved demand response program? 

    LADWP does not currently have an approved demand response program.
