About Cool LA
Cool LA helps LADWP customers better manage the impacts of extreme heat caused by climate change, especially older adults, income-qualified families, and those living in underserved communities where hot weather has an especially significant impact. Cool LA includes rebates on cooling units to help LADWP customers overcome the health risks associated with extreme heat.
Air Conditioner Rebates
Stay cool, save money & conserve energy!
Window AC / Wall AC / Portable AC Rebate
Up to $275 rebate for income-qualified residential electric customers* on the purchase of an Energy Star® rated Window & Wall Air Conditioning units and Title 20–compliant Portable Air Conditioning units – limit of two units.
Window AC Rebate
Up to $125 rebate for LADWP residential electric customers on the purchase of an Energy Star® rated Window Air Conditioning unit. Customers who are not receiving electric service on a discounted rate will receive the standard rebate – limit of two units.
LADWP income-qualified customers* are eligible to receive a Cool LA rebate of up to $275 ($50 standard Efficient Product Marketplace AC rebate + $225 limited time Cool LA rebate) for Energy Star®-rated Window and Through-the-Wall Air Conditioning Units, depending on the efficiency level, and Title 20–compliant Portable Air Conditioning Units.
*To qualify for the limited time Cool LA rebate, customers must have an active electric account on a discount rate (participating in one of the following programs: EZ-Save Program, Senior Citizen/Disability Lifeline Rate Program, Life-Support Equipment Discount Program, and/or Physician Certified Allowance Discount) at the time of purchase.
- Customers who are not receiving electric service on a discounted rate will receive the standard rebate of up to $125. To learn more or sign up for a discounted rate, visit LADWP Assistance Programs.
- Customers may mix and match rebates but are limited to two (2) rebates for purchasing air conditioning units, regardless of type.
- Window or through-the-wall AC units are limited to 2 units every 10 years.
- Portable ACs are limited to 2 units every 5 years.

Extreme Heat Resources
During times of extreme heat, LADWP recommends customers use an existing home cooling unit to stay safe. By signing up for Level Pay monthly billing, seasonal spikes in electricity demand due to home cooling can be averaged across 12 monthly bills, making the use of home cooling easier to manage.
Are you a customer who does not qualify for an electric service discounted rate?
LADWP residential customers who are not receiving electric service on a discounted rate are eligible to receive a rebate of up to $125 on the purchase of Energy Star®-rated Window Air Conditioning units.
To apply for the rebate, visit the Efficient Product Marketplace (EPM).
Limit 2 units per household, per 10 years. Rebate amount cannot exceed product purchase price. Taxes and shipping are not covered by the rebate. Rebate limits reset based on the date a rebate was last issued for the same product type.
